hello, I'm looking for a very good drive for CD-Ripping. I read a bit through the forum and there is a lot of hype for the Plextor PX-230A.

Use 'abcde' (yes, it's really called that) which uses cdparanoia to rip the CD - cdparanoia is very accurate and can rip to numerous different formats.

I use dBpoweramp on my Mac, love it. Easy to use, and very reliable. I ripped over 3,000 CDs last year and was glad to have it.

I have a stack of CDs and half of them I ripped with EAC and the other dbPowerAmp. I found myself spending more time with EAC than dbPowerAmp.

abcde is excellent for this. Very customisable, handles many things automatically, and can use arbitrary CD drives and ripping from multiple drives at once.
