How do you get rid of double line spacing in Excel?

1.click the cell then make sure that that cursur is at the end of the word or sentence, then press ALT+Enter.

I can't seem to figure out how to remove the double-line spacing. I set my Format Cells --> Alignment: Horizontal=General, Vertical=Top.
