Install files with identical names in the same folder *Updated Version

I use following command to copy files to folders with same name. for /f %x in ('dir /ad /b') do move %x*.* %x-. I use move %x*.

I want to move the files that start with the same name from one folder to a new folder where there already is a folder with that same starting name.

You cannot create/rename a directory and a file with exactly the same name, nor two directories with the same name, nor two files with the same name.

You cannot have two files with the same name in the same folder. You would either have to add a random string to the end of each file like you suggest.

I would like to move them into its corresponding folders (if exists) which has the exactly same name, for example: abc.torrent goes into abc/ ...

I am able to open both files and move them to the same directory without any problems. What's going on? Does this mean my hard disk is failing or something?

I would like to move all those files (con_0001.img) to one new folder (rather than having them in individual participant folders).

I wrote two scripts which can be used to merge folders. Including file over file, file over folder, and folder over file conflicts.

I used a simple bat file to create folders based off files names. For example, in my Movies folder, I have Example.mp4 and an Example folder.
