Throttle Position Sensor

A throttle position sensor (TPS) is an engine’s ECU used to monitor the position of the throttle body valve. In order to immediately monitor the throttle position, the sensor is typically mounted on the butterfly spindle or shaft.

A throttle position sensor, or TPS, monitors the position of the throttle valve in your engine, which controls the amount of air entering the engine based on how much you press the gas pedal.

The throttle position sensor is also referred to as a throttle opening sensor or a throttle switch. Its primary job is to determine whether the engine is in idle mode, under load, or undergoing acceleration or deceleration.

The throttle position sensor is a sensor type that is used for monitoring the throttle body valve position as a component of the engine ECU system. The butterfly spindle connects to this sensor, which aids in accurate throttle position monitoring.
