初次使用時設定一組密碼，之後就可以開始新增筆記，完成筆記後可以點選右下角 Lock Notes 來上鎖，這樣就不怕其他人窺視內容。滑鼠移到筆記清單時右上角會出現刪除的符號，可以快速的刪除筆記，不過刪除功能缺少再次確認的動作，會有不小心誤刪筆記的可能性。
點選筆記就可以直接進入編輯模式，基本上算是很類似的純文字模式，不能改字型、不能改大小，不過可以改變顏色、粗體、斜體與底線，有時候做個記號還是很方便的。現在很多電腦搜尋工具都包含有內文搜索功能，若是單純的 TXT 檔內容就沒有隱私可言，這時候就該改用 Secret Notes 囉！
